Hey Guys! Check out my latest VLOG post, a Kim Kardashian inspired makeup look. Now, I know a lot of people dislike Kim and the Kardashians, but with respect to her makeup, it’s one of the most searched makeup tutorials on YouTube.

MET BALL 2013 FASHION RECAP

PUNK-VAMP COUTURE seemed to be the theme at this year’s Met Gala Ball held at the Metropolitan Museum of Art on Monday (May 6 2013) in New York City. The stars arrived rocking faux Mohawks, studs, leather and lots of edgy fashion choices. I feel like we finally had a breath of fresh air from the typical “stuffy” red carpet fashion. HELLO DOLLS! I’ve always had a struggle with my weight, i’m 5″3 (don’t laugh I’m vertically challenged okay! lol) and I am a typical curvy gal. Before my wedding in 2010, I started a healthy diet and also started doing Zumba DVD workouts and lost a lot of weight and toned up. I continued this off and on throughout the past couple years, I even started attending Zumba Fitness classes and bought the Zumba workouts for my XBOX Kinnect. But I was bored, unmotivated and having to spend 1-2 hours after work in a Zumba class was very strenuous.

MOVIE REVIEW: OLYMPUS HAS FALLEN

Olympus has fallen is not an addition to the Clash of the Titans/ Wrath of the Titans movies nor is it in any way linked to Greek mythology. That’s what I thought it was when I heard the name at first so I thought I’d just clear that up with anyone else who had a similar train of thought. In a nutshell, this movie is about a terrorist attack on the White House and the fate of the United States falls on the shoulders of  a former secret service bodyguard Mike Banning (Gerald Butler).

MOVIE REVIEW: WORLD WAR Z

World War Z  is based on the novel of the same name written by Max Brooks. The movie takes place in several locations across the globe, where Gerry (Brad Pitt), a former UN investigator is charged with finding the origin of the outbreak causing ‘zombie-like’ behavior in humans. The fate of not only his own family, but of the world rests on his shoulders as he scours the globe in an attempt to disable the ‘zombies’.

I thought Selena looked hot, even though she’s only 21, I think the dress was sexy and edgy.

Taylor Swift in Herve Leger

This was definitely a departure from Taylor’s usual outfits and very daring but well tailored (no pun intended) to her body.

Ender’s Game is a Science Fiction movie based on the novel written by Orson Scott Card in the 80′s. First things first, I have a severe bias with regards to Harrison Ford, blame it on Star Wars or Indiana Jones or both for all I care. That being said I have to say that I enjoyed this movie and it’s rather unique spin on inter galactic warfare. It seemed vaguely reminiscent of the Hunger Games and the Nickelodeon game show Legends of the Hidden Temple (which of course came later). The plot revolves around the selection of young adults with military training via war based video games. These select few are prospects to avenge the Earth following an extra terrestrial attack which resulted in the loss o f millions. The main focus being on children’s ability to apply military tactics and strategy in a series of games.

WHAT TO WEAR TO A JOB INTERVIEW

One of my best friends has a been on the job hunt over the past couple months and I got inspired to write a post about what to wear to a job interview.

First things first, if you have a job interview, congratulations! It’s one step closer to your dream job (which may not be the job you’re interviewing for but it’s a stepping stone to the next big thing). I have been on about 10 interviews thus far, in industries ranging from marketing to insurance. The outfit you choose should reflect the type of person you would like to be seen as. For example, if you wear a low button down blouse with your cleavage exposed…you may not be taken as seriously as other candidates. I’m not saying to be a stiff, top button no skin showing type but moderation is key. You’re going for an interview, not a date and therefore you need to portray yourself as a confident, pleasant, focused woman which is what most employers are looking for.

Hellooooo lovely ladies, I hope you had a great weekend! On Sunday my husband and I decided to go for dinner and a movie (Percy Jackson & the Sea of creatures). I picked up a cute medium washed denim vest a few weeks ago and my outfit was inspired by this “oldie but goodie” photo of Kim K in similar styled denim vest. I’m no model but I thought I’d show you how easy it was to get this look for less!

I love the detailing on this jacket, the silver studs on the shoulder and lace panel in the back is a perfect balance of edgy and girly.

TO JUICE OR NOT TO JUICE?

As I mentioned in my Blogilates post (you can find it here, I’m really trying to eat healthy and incorporate daily workouts into my lifestyle.  Joe Cross, author of “Fat, Sick & Nearly Dead”  was featured on Dr. Oz’s TV program and talked about how he did a juicing cleanse and lost over 100 lbs and healed himself of his ailments (high blood pressure etc) in 60 days. You’re probably thinking “Whaaaaatt?” …no ladies I’m not crazy or in need of losing that much weight, I don’t intend on doing such an extreme diet, but I am interested in juicing and cleansing my body.

SIGMA BEAUTY ESSENTIAL BRUSH KIT REVIEW

Hey dolls, this review was supposed to be a YouTube video review, but I got food poisoning (not fun guys not fun) and decided to do a quick review and show some pictures of the brushes on my blog and later on I’ll do a review for you on YouTube.

 

I decided to go all out and buy the beginner’s brush kit which is called “The Essential Brush Kit” and I have to admit that I was pleasantly surprized, I’ve heard A LOT about Sigma brushes from fellow beauty bloggers and I had extremely high expectations. and they did not disappoint. The packaging and product itself screams high quality.

Even though we don’t experience Fall & Winter in the Caribbean (it’s literally scorching sun or thundering rain all year round) I enjoy mixing up the usual outfits and adding in some darker colors, thicker fabrics etc. Oh and a quick shout out to Pinterest, it has proven to be a major source of inspiration for me for everything from home decor, fashion and makeup. I usually go on there and browse through pinning ideas that seem similar to my style. If you haven’t joined yet, trust me you won’t regret it.

I know many of you don’t have the time to follow the updates on the latest trends (it can be quite tedious) so I’ve decided to share with you the Fall trends my favorite Celebs have been rockin’ that I’m loving right now (Don’t forget to Follow me on Pinterest for more pics!) 

Rebecca Romain is rocking the denim on denim trend which started last last fall with the chambray shirt, continued into spring/summer with denim rompers and now mixed shades. We’ve all got a pair of denim jeans right?

Blake Lively, is sporting a colorful printed pair of pants, another big trend this year even seen with leggings. Pair these colorful or printed pants with neutral simple pieces and you’re right on trend.

Kate shows us how beautiful neutral colors can look with a plain old pair of well fitted jeans.

Rosie & Kourtney show us how all black everything never goes out of style.

I adore classic white pieces with dark denim, I especially love the structure yet simplicity of this blouse.

Monochrome head to toe is a big tricky to pull off, we’ve been seeing Kim K trying this look several times this year, but I think Eva Longoria makes it look simple and chic.

Stella McCartney’s Fall 2013 collection featured this monochromatic trend as well.

Jessica Alba is cute and comfy in flats, jeans and a pop of color with her eggplant handbag, a color we’ll be seeing a lot more of this fall.

Natalie Portman & Hayden Panetierre both rock the black & white trend, Natalie with a classic dress with a modern flare and Hayden with a pop of red.

HOW TO GET THAT GOLDEN GODDESS/JLO GLOW MAKEUP TUTORIAL

Okay so who doesn’t want to look like JLO?

Not only does she have an amazing body, successful career and beautiful children; Jennifer Lopez is known for her radiant glowing skin. In this makeup tutorial I try to do an everyday version of the “JLO glow” with subtle highlights, gold shimmery eye shadow, and lots of bronzer. You can also add false lashes (JLO usually applies them to both her upper and lower lashes), brown or black eyeliner or tone it down by using matte neutral eye shadows. MOVIE REVIEW: PACIFIC RIM

The IMDB description for this movie is “As a war between humankind and monstrous sea creatures wages on, a former pilot and a trainee are paired up to drive a seemingly obsolete special weapon in a desperate effort to save the world from the apocalypse.” My description? It was totally freaking awesome! If you enjoy action packed films with a unique perspective, then this is the film for you. The potential for this film to be terrible was pretty high BUT it was effectively executed in an entertaining and realistic manner. With Director Guillermo del Torro on board, I had no doubt this was going to be an epic film. For those of you that don’t know, he’s also the director of Pan’s Labyrinth, Hellboy 1 & 2.

Genre: Action/Adventure/Fantasy

I can’t say enough about how much I enjoyed this film without giving away some spoilers, so I’m just going to say simply that I thoroughly enjoyed this movie, I would watch it again and again. It was family friendly, no lulls, and I connected with the characters and completely understood the novelty ideas introduced in the film as they did such a good job of explaining in the intro.

Speaking of the intro, when the movie title popped up I instantly said to my husband “and that was just the intro?” yup, that good people. So I’ll conclude by saying I highly recommend the film and that I hope you enjoy it as much as I did!

P.S: The success of the film has already sparked talks of a sequel, the director stated that he has a story line planned out for the next film which is completely different that the first!

PEOPLE’S CHOICE AWARDS 2014 FASHION REVIEW

The People’s Choice Awards 2014 were held at the Nokia Theatre L.A. Live on Wednesday (January 8) in Los Angeles, there were so many looks that I loved but I narrowed it down to a few based on the fact that I thought they were fresh new looks which I think would spark trends in the months to come.

This beautiful shade of blue seemed to survive 2013 and transitioned into the 2014 red carpet and I have to say that I’m extremely happy about that because I find it a universally flattering color and appropriate all year long.

Shiny Sequins

I love sequins if it’s done right, Nina Dobrev’s gown looks futuristic, edgy but glamorous with the added element of sequins. Anna Farris does an all sequin and nude pant and blouse and I love it however I think the color washes her out a bit, maybe if it was on a darker skin tone like Jennifer Lopez, the true beauty of the outfit would shine through.
