2014 GOLDEN GLOBES RECAP

2014 GOLDEN GLOBES RECAP

The 2014 Golden Globe Awards was held at the Beverly Hilton Hotel on Sunday (January 12) in Beverly Hills, California. Television and Film actors and actresses arrived in style at the event, and although I was rather disappointed by the fashion choices, the awards show itself was entertaining. The joke of the night (in my opinion) was when host  Tina Fey made a jab at George Clooney’s love life in reference to his recent film Gravity ““‘Gravity’ is nominated for best film. It’s the story of how George Clooney would rather float away into space and die than spend one more minute with a woman his own age.” Everyone seemed to love that one, myself included. My interest peaked for the films American Hustle, 12 years as a slave and Wolf of Wall Street.

Best Dressed

My pick for Best Dressed actress this year was hands down 12 Years a Slave star and Globe nominee Lupita Nyong’o  in a red silk Ralph Lauren dress. Fashion forward, flattering, beautiful color and classy.

Sofia Vergara always brings her A game on the red carpet and last night was no exception, stunning.

Michelle Dockery, star of Downton Abbey shows us how the trending asymmetrical hemline can be done right, i’m 100% positive we’re going to see more of this hemline for 2014.
Cate Blanchett is the epitome of class in this gown, absolutely beautiful and age appropriate.

Of all the looks from hosts Tina Fey and Amy Poehler, I have to say this red/maroon number Tina Fey wears on stage was my favorite, feminine and classic.

Julianna Margulies makes me actually want to wear gold coral for my next big event.

I adore Kate Beckinsale, she’s always classy and trendy. This amazing dress doesn’t disappoint, best dressed presenter in my opinion.

Olivia Wilde makes pregnancy beautiful & sexy in this emerald green sequined body hugging number. I love it, definitely one of my top 3 favorite looks of the night.

Worst Dressed

I know a few people are going to kill me for saying this, but as much as I love Jennifer Lawrence, her gown was severely underwhelming; not only was it the same style/shape as her previous gowns, but it looked dated and a bit like a 3 tiered wedding cake.

Laura Carmichael, star of Downton Abbey also wore one of my least favorite looks which happens to be black and white.

I’m not sure if Caitlin Fitzgerald, star of Masters of Sex was trying to stay true to character on this one, but although I love the asymmetrical hemline trending this year (see above where Michelle Dockery wears the same hemline), I don’t like anything else about this look.

Again with the asymmetrical hemline but Sandra Bullock’s stylist needs to be fired. She is such a beautiful and talented woman, putting her in this dress makes me think that 80′s threw up all over her beautiful black gown.

I don’t even know what to say about this next one.

Or this one…I think Heidi Klum specifically selects the most unflattering, ugliest gown out there for each event, she has an amazing body I just don’t understand why she does this year after year. And the necklace? ugh.

Robin Thicke’s wife Paula Patton is beautiful, but this dress isn’t flattering or fashion forward to me.

Zoe Saldana is known for taking fashion risks and bless her heart for trying but this dress looks like she couldn’t decide which gown to wear so she pieced together bits from each and then walked down the red carpet.

I wish Julia Roberts removed that white shirt and just left this gown as a tailored black fitted gown, if only wishes came true.
